Batting for Boobs

I have received some questions about which batting that should be used for the boobs, and here’s what I suggest:

I use a thin, flat, rather firm polyester batting (which goes by the name of “table batting” here) myself.

Light (not dark) and washed fleece or flannel will probably be fine, and also firm needle punched cotton or polyester/cotton blends. If you’re not sure, try rubbing it with a cloth to see if it beards a lot. If it doesn’t, use it.

The reason why I don’t want batting that beards is that the raw edges are exposed and fluffy stuff all over the boobs will not look that great.

So, try what you already have at home – and go ahead - make some boobs.

Make a Boob

Make a Boob is a project about breast cancer.
.
.
The project has two main goals:
.
offering people with breast cancer to participate in workshops where we decorate boobs. These workshops are set up in co-operation with the local chapter of the Cancer Association. Participants can decide to keep their work or to donate them to Make a Boob Art.
.
to create awareness and involvement through
- making circles for workshops
- participating in workshops and decorating boobs
- exhibition of Make a Boob Art
.
.
The project has several steps:
.
Collecting circles
.
Collecting boobs
.
Workshops at different groups and guilds during 2011
.
Creating Make a Boob Art. There will be made several art pieces depending on how many boobs that are made. At least one quilt will be donated to the Norwegian Cancer Association. Others might be donated to other facilities that treat breast cancer or –patients.
.
Exhibition of Make a Boob Art. The art pieces will be exhibited.
.
.
This is a non-profit project, run and founded by the artist Nina Lise Moen of Mrs Moen. Please contact me if you want to contribute to the project at mrsmoen (at) yahoo (dot) no.
